I think there needs to be a big discussion around buying against audiences rather than pages. Some agencies are "there" and some aren't. See here: http://www.darrenherman.com/2008/06/16/advertising-to-audiences/

I'm working on this :)

So, what's the next step. From my time talking to agencies, I feel that, in reality, corps are so against major change that it takes forever to move the ship. I have 100s of examples. I'm sure you experience that frustration on a daily basis. Is there enough collaboration taking place between the big media buyers and shops like Media6?

FB Beacon, imho was certainly onto something. they just went about approaching the market incorrectly and upset quite a few people, so they had to shut it down. Will they (or someone else) resurrect it in some fashion or another? Of course.

Companies are certainly interesting in targeting influencers, though there are some theories that dispell that only targeting influencers will lead to not reaching everyone. There are some networks such as Lotame, 33 Across, Media6 that do just that - reach influencers...

Well, I gave it my best shot...heavy late night reading. Honestly, I became lost in the numbers around page 12; so I'd be really interested to hear what you have to say about the subject.

One thing I did take away from it is that FB's Beacon was definitely onto something. In one sense, it's too bad it caught so much flack; but it seems that this is where we will go next in some fashion. Countless studies have been done on 'cool;' but the first 10,000 that got copies of the DaVinci Code were important...not you and I. I'm curious why companies aren't interested in targeting a quality group of influencers rather than the whole market. With today's technology, it seems very inefficient to me. I could go on as always ;->.
