Sadly, most people will still flock to the labels when it comes to Luxury items. Due to massive advertising campaigns that are heavily focused on image and lifestyle issues, the masses will flock to the Louis Vuitons and Prada of the world. Those companies, which are run by business execs as opposed to talented designers, mass market their products and come up with designs that are based on business oriented focus groups. Yet, their campaigns still lead you to believe that what you are getting is is unique and indeed luxury... because luxury is defined by the cost of the product and the statement it makes about you.

I agree with you that small emerging designers are still the purveyors of genuine luxury items based on craftsmanship and quality, but sadly, most of these designers find it very hard to compete against the LVMHs of the world, and eventually get bought and thrown into a system of mass production and brilliant marketing.

There is no more difference between Prada and McDonald's
