The Sopranos
Quite possibly the worst finale ever.
They did leave it open for a much rumored movie… there are many ways the story could unfold. Many sites let you place bets on whether or not Tony lived… I wonder how much money was gambled on this show in total?

Im still in shock…….anticipation anticipation - and puff…..Nothing. Great Episode but dissapointed as a finale

that was just terrible…terrible…i never watched the show until tonight and i am super glad i didnt waste six years of my life into paying attention

I echo the above. Incredibly disappointing, with so many teasers.

We should all cancel HBO for 60 days. That was garbage!

Honestly, it seemed like an error to me. The final shots didn’t make sense, the show lost sound and it seemed more like an erro then something intentional.

Honestly, they may have meant to leave it hanging, but, I think there was something technically wrong.

I actually thought it was brilliant

That episode was a “Journey.”

perhaps it was, in concept, because the ending will be talked about and debated more then the ending of any other tv show. But, the execution could have been better and left people really wondering. But, for the execution to feel like bad editing left me disappointed. The editing cut out the suspense and made me scream at my tv and cable provider because I thought they made some techincal error. Proper execution demands that the scene builds and builds and at its highest point it leaves us hanging. I don’t feel that we got that point, and again the execution felt like bad editing (or, like a technical error by my cable company)

Thanks for all the comments! I guess getting picked up on Google for the search term, Sopranos is a good thing!

Absolutely. You were in the right place at the right time, don’t blow it.
June 10th, 2007 at 9:26 pm
yes, the whole season was lame… poor writing, unsatisfying tangents topped w bogus finale…. 6 feet under had the much better end…

We agree with with Mike, it seemed like an error. We’re boycotting HBO until we calm down. David Chase, the creator, was on tv recently saying he knew exactly how the show was going to end since he first launched the series… anyone who routinely watched the show deserved better. That was crap.

West coast, don’t bother. Chase is just too full of himself in the “artist” sense and just went with what he thought was “cutting edge” read..cop-out. Now if anyone out there was truly honest , they would agree that about 50% of all the sopranos episodes were, ok, DULL! Seemed like alot of fill in. OK, David we get that LIFE is LIFE and it goes on. Get a grip, it’s tv and it should be entertaining. In a nut shell, sorry i wasted my time on this, IT SUCKED!

Loved it! “Don’t stop believing” playing on the juke box, panning to the people in and entering the diner, Meadow being late, the anticipation building, building, building… and then POOF! Black screen! Why not? It’s FICTION!

I thought my cable went out for a minute. I didn’t like it either. Booooooo!

Oh well, I was a big Sopranos fan.
I’ve cancelled HBO tonight.
Nuff said.

[...] usual, I need to re-watch it, so I’m not ready to call it the worst series finale ever, but it was definitely no Six Feet Under. Right now, though, I’m feeling incredibly underwhelmed. [...]

A few minutes before the end there was a flashback to Tony talking to Bobby in the boat and Bobby asks, “what happens when they’re after you?” or something, and Tony basically says, it just ends, you dont know anymore about anything, you’re just gone. With that in mind, that is exactly how the show ended. We (the audience) got shot. Tony’s life goes on and we know nothing about it..

the more i think about it, the more it starts to set in how brilliant the episode was and how it was ended…
